servus Campus: Robot Bending
Creative Robotics
Fr., 10. december – 16:00 ~ 20:00 Uhr
Sat., 11. december – 11:00 ~ 17:00 Uhr
Instructor:
Varvara Guljajeva is a media artist from Estonia but currently living and working in Linz. Her main focus is on interactive installations and kinetic organic sculptures. Often Varvara’s works are her reflection on society, environment and cyber-age. Varvara is sharing her knowledge on interactive art at Interface Cultures in the Art University of Linz and workshops. Varvara has worked with children, youth, and artists who are eager to apply technology for creative purposes.

Workshop description
We will build creatures out of styrofoam. With the help of different types of motors [2 DC motors (3-9V) servo motors (3.5-9V)] and *Arduino we give our static creatures a new life. Through basic methods participants will learn how to move a creature and design a simple behavior.
Target of the Workshop: learn basics about motion, electronics, materials, and apply the knowledge in practice. We want to produce a small Robo-Swarm.
*Arduino is an open-source electronics prototyping platform based on flexible, easy-to-use hardware and software. It's intended for artists, designers, hobbyists, and anyone interested in creating interactive objects or environments.
The workshop will take place by a min. of 5 participants and a max. of 10 participants.
Workshop Language: english but if required help will be provided in german
Register until the 5th of december, do it now!"
How to participate in the class?
Knowledge in Arduino and electronics is an advantage but NOT MUST for attending.
Creative mind and wish to make things move are absolutely necessary!
Being able to preinstall the required Software and deal with your own computer.
In the case of questions don't hasidate to contact: varvarag_at_gmail.com before you register.
The registration deadline: the 5th of December !
Technical Requirements:
Bring your own Laptop with the preinstalled Arduino Software. Or use one of our provided stations.
Bring your own Arduino Board and your own Usb-Cable for the Arduino Board to connect the board with the computer. If you don't have Arduino and want to use it the future you can order it online.
http://www.physicalcomputing.at/ If you are not sure about the future use we try to borrow you one for the workshop.
